Construction Underway on JW Marriott Indianapolis Complex
Hunt Construction Group, joined by White Lodging, Whiteco Industries and REI Real Estate Services, celebrated the groundbreaking of the $425 million JW Marriott Indianapolis development on May 29th. The new development will prove a huge asset to the city by adding 1,623 rooms to the heart of downtown Indianapolis.
Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard, White Lodging President and CEO Bruce W. White, REI Real Estate Services President Michael W. Wells and community leaders gathered, shovels in hand, to break ground on the largest JW Marriott hotel in the U.S.
The seven acre site is situated near the White River State Park with Washington and Maryland Street bordering to the north and south. The crescent moon design, complete with a blue-tint glass curtain wall, will include the city's largest full-service hotel, 105,000 square feet of meeting space and 40,000-square-foot Grand Ballroom. Even more impressive, the 34-floor facility will stand 375 feet tall and will give the facility the title of the tallest hotel in Indianapolis.
Hunt Construction Group is leading the construction management team with architects Hellmuth, Obata + Kassabaum (HOK) and CSO Architects. The JW Marriott Indianapolis is scheduled to open in March 2011 with the Courtyard Marriott Downtown, Indianapolis Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Downtown and Indianapolis Springhill Suites by Marriott Downtown scheduled for construction/renovation completion in March 2010.
With over 55 hotel projects completed across the country, Hunt is proud to be ranked #2 by Engineering News-Record for Hotel & Convention Center construction. The JW Marriott Indianapolis Complex marks another milestone in Hunt's ongoing relationship with Marriott International and White Lodging Services Corporation - a relationship for which Hunt is proud.
