HUNT TAKES THE LEED ON GREEN BUILDING
In an effort to create consistent, credible standards for green building, the U.S. Green Building Council established the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED™) Green Building Rating System in August 1998. It has since become the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction and operation on high performance green building.
With over ten projects on track to receive a specific level of LEED™ Certification, Hunt Construction Group is proving its dedication to green building. Hunt has numerous construction professionals who are LEED™ accredited to ensure that we are doing our part in protecting the environment and making sure the client's project is registered with the U.S. Green Building Council.
With projects like New DC Ballpark in Washington, DC; New Indianapolis International Airport in Indianapolis, Indiana; Phoenix Convention Center Expansion in Phoenix, Arizona; McCormick Place West Expansion in Chicago, Illinois and San Francisco Federal Office Building in San Francisco, California, Hunt is making a clear statement on their commitment to large-scale green building.
LEED™ promotes a whole-building approach to sustainability by recognizing performance in five key areas of human and environmental heath. These areas include sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection and indoor environmental quality. For a project to meet LEED™ Certification standards, a detailed set of criteria must be met in exchange for a varying amount of performance credits. Depending on how many performance credits are earned, projects will be classified as Certified, Silver, Gold or Platinum.
Hunt Construction Group is proud to be a member of the U.S. Green Building Council and looks forward to continued contributions to green building. For more information on LEED™, the USGBC and to view a membership directory, click here
