Hunt team successfully completes JW Marriott Indianapolis
JW2mainsiteHunt Construction Group is proud to have joined White Lodging and The City of Indianapolis in celebrating the February 4 opening of the new JW Marriott Indianapolis. The Hunt team and partners Mezzetta Construction Services, Inc., Smoot Construction and Finch Constructors, Inc. worked together to deliver the world's largest JW Marriott. The impressive facility completes the Marriott Place development project occupying seven acres along the west side of downtown Indianapolis.

Hunt began work on the $450 million complex in May 2008 with CSO Architects and HOK Group on the design side. The Marriott Place Indianapolis is made up of a collection of five Marriott properties offering unprecedented options for business and leisure travelers. In addition to the new JW Marriott Indianapolis, the complex includes the Courtyard by Marriott Indianapolis Downtown, SpringHill Suites by Marriott Indianapolis Downtown, Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Indianapolis Downtown and the Marriott Indianapolis Downtown, making a total of 2,248 rooms.

In addition to 54 meeting rooms and 104,000 square feet of event space, the JW Marriott Indianapolis also houses a 40,500-square-foot Grand Ballroom, the largest hotel ballroom in the Midwest. The completion of the JW Marriott Indianapolis marks the culmination of nearly $3 billion in urban investment in downtown Indianapolis and marks the third major Hunt project in downtown Indianapolis to complete since 2008.

The JW Marriott Indianapolis is the tallest hotel in Indiana at 375 feet tall and 34 stories high. In addition, with 1,005 guest rooms, the hotel is also the largest JW Marriott property in the world. It also features two restaurants including High Velocity and Osteria Pronto with an outdoor patio ready for the spring. With these additions, the hotel also serves as a welcome addition for local residents as well.

The JW Marriott Indianapolis makes a prominent addition to the Indianapolis skyline that Hunt has helped to shape since 1944. Most recently, Hunt completed work on Lucas Oil Stadium (home of NFL’s Indianapolis Colts), Col. H Weir Cook Terminal, Indianapolis Air Traffic Control Tower and Base Administration Building and the Conrad Hotel & Residential Tower.

Other notable projects include Major General Emmett J. Bean Center, Wishard Memorial Hospital Burn Unit, Marriott Convention Center Hotel, the 2001 Indiana Convention Center Expansion, Riley Outpatient Center, Conseco Fieldhouse, RCA Dome Renovation and Indiana Farm Bureau Football Center Expansion to name a few.

Hunt would like to congratulate everyone who helped make this project a success. It took the hard work and dedication of thousands of skilled men and women to make such an impressive facility possible ahead of schedule and under budget. The team was recognized on February 4 at a Contractors Appreciation Event held at the new hotel where attendees could enjoy the impressive finished product in action.
