Hunt Construction Group Receives Sunshine State Safety Award PDF Print E-mail
OrlandoEventsUSF SafetyFlorida recently honored Hunt Construction Group, with the Sunshine State Safety Recognition Award, for implementing and maintaining an effective injury and illness prevention program/process on the construction of the New Orlando Events Center.

The award, implemented in 2006, is designed to recognize employers in high-risk occupations that partner with SafetyFlorida to make their workplaces safer and reduce the number of work-related injuries and fatalities. This marks Hunt’s first Sunshine State Safety award from the University of South Florida`s (USF`s) Safety Consultation Program.

A specific element of Hunt’s safety program is to hold quarterly events to recognize and promote the safety of workers who are going above and beyond safety standards. A recent event included a catered luncheon with a special guest, Orlando Magic’s Chief Operating Officer Alex Martins. Each of the 300 workers in attendance, who had not committed a single safety violation, was also eligible for a drawing for a variety of prizes.

Construction on the 800,000-square-foot New Orlando Events Center (future home of the NBA’s Orlando Magic) started in the fall of 2008. Hunt is committed to making safety a priority on the project through it’s completion in the fall of 2010.
