Hunt becomes first and only General Building Contractor in Arizona to achieve Voluntary Protection Program status

Phoenix, AZ — On June 8, 2009, Hunt Construction Group, Inc. became Arizona’s first and only general building contractor to become a part of the Arizona Division of Occupational Safety and Health (ADOSH), Voluntary Protection Program (VPP), and Hunt’s CityScape Project for RED Development was designated as a “Star Site”.

According to ADOSH’s website, “The Star Site designation recognizes exemplary worksites with comprehensive, successful safety and health management systems. Companies in the Star Program have achieved injury and illness rates at or below the national average of their respective industries.”

Following submission of a comprehensive VPP application and over a year’s worth of extensive reviews conducted by ADOSH including detailed examinations of Hunt’s overall safety policies and programs, safety record as well as on-site evaluations of Hunt’s and Subcontractors specific safety procedures at RED’s CityScape Project located in downtown Phoenix.

As a VPP Star Site, Hunt’s CityScape project is now considered self-sufficient and entitled to self-administration of safety programs on the CityScape project without regular compliance inspections by ADOSH.  This is of value to our clients considering the average VPP worksite has a lost workday incidence rate at least 50% below the average.
