Robert C. Hunt (1923-2005)
Chairman

As the son of founder Paul Hunt, Mr. Hunt worked for the company for nearly 60 years before his passing on October 22, 2005. Mr. Hunt received his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Case Institute of Technology in Cleveland, Ohio, with graduate study at M.I.T.

Mr. Hunt took over the company in the early 50s and remained Chairman up until his death. Mr. Hunt provided both general and specific direction to the management of the company. In addition serving as Chairman, he was also affiliated with the American Society of Civil Engineers, the National Society of Professional Engineers, and the National Association of General Contractors.

Mr. Hunt served on the Board of Directors of Bank one, Indianapolis, NA; served as a Trustee of Indiana Central University; served as a member of the Board of Trustees of Citizens Gas & Coke Utility of Indianapolis; and was a former President of the Indianapolis Athletic Club, and served on the "500" Festival Committee.

Mr. Hunt's civic, fraternal and religious affiliations included the Fiesta Bowl Board of Directors, Phoenix, Arizona; Trustee and Member of First Baptist Church, Indianapolis, Indiana; Lay Advisory Board Member of St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis, Indiana; Member of Greater Indianapolis Progress Committee; Member of President's Council, Brebeuf Preparatory School, Indianapolis, Indiana; former Chairman, Phoenix & Valley of The Sun Convention & Visitors Bureau, Phoenix, Arizona. Mr. Hunt also was a former Member of the Super Bowl XXX Host Committee.

Major Accomplishments
  • 1947 - Started full time as Field Engineer
  • 1952 - General Manager of Hunt
  • 1956 - Company went National
  • 1960 - Started Western Division with Buick / Oldsmobile / Pontiac Assembly Plant in Santa Clara, CA
  • 1961 - Clients were IBM, GE, Western Electric, Ford Motor Company
  • 1968 - First stadium project (Riverfront Stadium, Cincinnati)
  • 1972 - Became Chairman
  • Second generation Hunt to direct the company
  • Established The Hunt Paving Company in 1956
